Writing is ont color="#FF0000">theont> productive skill which expresses, explore and explain ont color="#FF0000">theont> writer's ideas into written text. In teaching learning writing, ont color="#FF0000">theont> students find some problems. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> students feel difficult in arranging and developing ont color="#FF0000">theont> ideas. ont color="#FF0000">Theont>n, ont color="#FF0000">theont> teacher has problem in applying appropriate ont color="#FF0000">methodont> in teaching writing. So, ont color="#FF0000">theont> teacher need ont color="#FF0000">theont> alternative ont color="#FF0000">methodont> which can be used for teaching learning writing. Based on ont color="#FF0000">theont> previous studies, ont color="#FF0000">fouront> ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> gave ont color="#FF0000">theont> positive ont color="#FF0000">effectont> for ont color="#FF0000">theont> students such as math, science education, reading and speaking. Thus, making different with ont color="#FF0000">theont> previous studies, ont color="#FF0000">theont> researcher applied ont color="#FF0000">fouront> ont color="#FF0000">squareont> in writing class that not only focus on ont color="#FF0000">theont> understanding ont color="#FF0000">theont> material but also ont color="#FF0000">theont> organization ont color="#FF0000">ofont> ont color="#FF0000">theont> text
This study was to investigate ont color="#FF0000">theont> significant ont color="#FF0000">effectont> ont color="#FF0000">ofont> ont color="#FF0000">fouront> ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> on studentsí writing recount ability. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> design ont color="#FF0000">ofont> this study is quasi experimental design. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> researcher chose eighth grade students ont color="#FF0000">ofont> SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Giri which totally consisted ont color="#FF0000">ofont> 44 students. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> researcher chose ont color="#FF0000">theont> sample ont color="#FF0000">ofont> ont color="#FF0000">theont> study through population sampling. It was divided 21 students ont color="#FF0000">ofont> VIII-A as control group and 23 students ont color="#FF0000">ofont> VIII-B as experimental. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> data was collected by using tests; pre-test and post-test about writing recount text. After getting ont color="#FF0000">theont> data, ont color="#FF0000">theont> researcher analyzed ont color="#FF0000">theont> data using SPSS 16.00 and used Independent Sample T-test.
ont color="#FF0000">Theont> research finding showed that ont color="#FF0000">theont>re was a significant difference between experimental group who were taught by using ont color="#FF0000">fouront> ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> and control group who were taught by think talk write. It is proven by ont color="#FF0000">theont> result ont color="#FF0000">ofont> sig. (2-tailed) is .000. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> sig. (2-tailed) is lower than 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05). So, null hypoont color="#FF0000">theont>sis (Ho) can be rejected. It means that ont color="#FF0000">fouront> ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> significantly ont color="#FF0000">effectont>s on students' writing recount ability. ont color="#FF0000">Theont> researcher concluded that ont color="#FF0000">fouront> ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> gave positive ont color="#FF0000">effectont> on student writing ability. Students were motivated in learning writing. ont color="#FF0000">Theont>y were more independent in learning writing especially in arranging and developing ont color="#FF0000">theont> ideas.
ont color="#FF0000">Theont>refore, researcher suggests to English teacher for implementing ont color="#FF0000">ofont> ont color="#FF0000">fouront>ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> as an alternative ont color="#FF0000">methodont> in English teaching learning process. For a furont color="#FF0000">theont>r researcher, ont color="#FF0000">theont> researcher hope that uses ont color="#FF0000">fouront>ont color="#FF0000">squareont> ont color="#FF0000">methodont> in oont color="#FF0000">theont>r skill and anoont color="#FF0000">theont>r level to make different with ont color="#FF0000">theont> previous study.
